Come
and meet representatives of SPLAT present our substantiated concerns at
Hart Council Planning Committee meeting at Princes Hall, Aldershot on
Wednesday 19 March at 7pm (accommodates up to 900 people).
Everyone is welcome to attend the meeting and understand if Hart Council
is listening to our concerns.
The special meeting will cover the 24 hours/day, 7 days/week Pyestock
Mega Depot planning applications and allow Hart to confirm their
intention to refuse (or accept) the applications.
We look forward to a constructive debate (avoiding any demonstrations)
which will enable the Planning Committee to understand the full impact
of this unsustainable and irreversible HGV generating mega development.
Also, the developer is going to appeal the outline application and we
recently had an ‘over 12,000th objections event’, which was covered by
the BBC News and local newspapers

Finally, a recent useful statement: "Rail freight produces less
greenhouse gas emissions provides fuel cost savings and reduces delays
related to congested road travel. We believe that rail freight is
important to the future of the logistics industry in the UK. With
strategic land holdings and expertise in this area of development, we
are well positioned to serve customer demand for rail-served
distribution facilities." A quote from Prologis (the Pru’s joint
developer). So, why is a massive road only mega depot development being
considered at Pyestock, when there would be appropriate locations which
could support sustainable rail freight?
Is the Pru being dismissive of the environmental, economic, quality of
life and strategic benefits that their joint developer promotes?!
See you on the 19th March. |
