Latest News: 13/01/08: New detailed plan = More Traffic Congestion expected

The Pru submitted their new detailed plan on Christmas Eve and the deadline for objections is Wednesday 6 February.  Even if you objected to their last plan (over 5,000 did), to be certain your opinion is considered you need to object now to the new detailed plan 07/03197/major. Object here >
Existing Pyestock Roundabout congestion
The detailed plan summary points:

  • Additional traffic forecast: now the developer expects up to 8,000 vehicle movements (lorries, vans and cars) per day and additionally over 5,500 HGVs movements per week, with further traffic potential

  • Remains 1,250,000 sq ft of floorspace operating 24 hours/day x 7 days/week (24 x 7)Existing Pyestock Roundabout congestion

  • Still wanting traffic lights to replace the busy Minley Link/Summit Avenue roundabout to make it easier for their HGVs to manoeuvre!

  • 10 Mega sheds (up to 60ft tall) will continue to cause massive over development

  • No mention of the pending Pyestock South 24 x 7 development, which will bring additional traffic at the Pyestock Roundabout (close to Nokia)

Our previous concerns still apply and additionally the increased amount and type of traffic is just not suited for our already stressed local road infrastructure and will bring an irreversible impact through increased and extended traffic congestion!

Our previous concerns included:

  • Excessive traffic generation with HGVs, LGVs and cars x 24 hours a day x 7 days a week

  • Continuous and significant noise, air and light pollution

  • The resulting buildings would be massive, unsightly and spoil the visual amenity of the area

  • The development would have a disproportionate negative impact on our quality of life, including residential and conservation areas (e.g. Fleet Pond Nature Reserve, SSSIs, SPA)

  • Conflicts with local policy as it will significantly damage the rural character and open nature of the location forever

  • Unsustainable development, conflicts with national and regional policy, more appropriate locations with sustainable rail freight should be considered

  • The massive over development would result in urban sprawl and destroy the protected Strategic Gap between Farnborough and Fleet

Every adult should object separately, please tell your family, friends and work colleagues.  Object here >
