12/05/07: The Pru are misleading us again, they want one of their many mega sheds to be over 1,000,000 sq ft!

The new Framework Plan diagram shows one of the mega sheds with the maximum Building Dimensions of 510 metres x 195 metres (99,450m sq).  This would result in a massive shed of over 1,000,000 sq ft in floorspace. 

The mega shed would be larger than this monstrosity, see photo click here.  In fact, it would accommodate the shed in the photo and still have space to fit B&Q Farnborough twice over with room to spare.

The Pru continue to demonstrate their misleading approach to their 24 x 7 mega depot planning application.  They were publicly shamed in last year’s Sunday Times Britain’s Biggest Building – a shed article (click here) as it uncovered the Pru planning a 1,250,000 sq ft mega shed even though the largest shed submitted in the Pru’s outline planning application was 629,000 sq ft. 

The Pru then publicly announced they would limit the size of the largest shed to 860,000 sq ft, which would be one third larger than their submitted planning application.  Now they are slipping in the option of having a 1,000,000 sq ft+ mega shed, over 1.5 times their previous submission, with at least 6 other sheds.

The impact to the local area would be horrific and irreversible.  A mega depot of this size is not sustainable in our area and is in conflict with many local, regional and national policies.  We pay a premium to live in this part of the country and we all need to protect our quality of life, before it is too late. 

Please ensure you object – Act Today, as there is a time limit for objecting.  Ensure your neighbours, friends and colleagues know they have to object (again) and all adults in the house object individually.  Public concern is a material planning consideration - your objection can help stop this unsuitable 24 x 7 development.
